This LG refrigerator is a standout in our tests, and comes with plenty of space to keep a family well-fed, but it does have a few quirks that we found to be annoying. First the freezer drawers don't remain as cold as we'd like. The middle drawer sat at 41 degrees during our maximum test of use, which is warm enough to serve ice cream and other frozen food items. The temperature in the rest of your freezer was at about 36 degrees.

The doors of refrigerators also have handles that are sunken and are difficult for people with shorter arms to close. It might seem like a minor thing however we prefer front-mounted handles on refrigerators, as they are more convenient to open and close.

The fridge is expensive, but it's well worth it for anyone looking to have an ultra-modern look for their kitchen. This fridge is recommended for those looking to upgrade their existing refrigerator or those who are building new homes and want to have a seamless kitchen.

It also does well in our cooling tests, though we're not too fond of its plastic handles and the crisper bins appear a bit fragile.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

French door refrigerators give a sleek design to any kitchen, and they fit well in different sizes of rooms. If you want the convenience of this design without the extra height, a counter-depth fridge is the best option. We've tested a lot of them, and this Frigidaire model has a higher than average score in our ratings for its reasonable price and thoughtful features such as an adjustable temperature drawer.

But it also has a couple of nagging problems. Our test data indicates that the FGHB2866PF gets warm quite some in the freezer, and can be uncomfortable warm on the refrigerator's outermost shelves. That's reflected in our heat maps which show how the internal temperatures vary from minute to minute. The orange area on the top right, representing the butter bin, is especially warm for most of the time we tested. This might not appear to be a problem at first however, the fridge is spending most of the time above 32 degrees.

It's also worth mentioning that the FGHB2866PF isn't an Energy Star-certified model. This could be important for certain buyers. The issue is that the fridge isn't the best. It lacks advanced features and a durable construction, making it difficult to recommend it over better models at this price.

In many ways, this Frigidaire is a stainless-steel version of a fridge you might see in your local appliances store. It's a safe option with a brushed finish that looks good and is impervious to smudges, but it does not do much to differentiate itself from other brands that are more feature-rich and cost less.

However, if you're looking for a budget counter-depth French door refrigerator and don't have the funds to spend a lot on our top choices and the FGHC2331PF is worth a look. It has enough storage space for most families, and it does a good job of keeping food fresh. Even even if it's not an energy efficient unit, it's still much less expensive than our best-rated models.
